A grow light can look bright, pull plenty of power, and still be the wrong fixture for your space. A useful LED grow lights comparison starts with the plant canopy, the grow area, and the stage of growth – not the biggest wattage number on the box. A light for a tray of seedlings has a different job than a fixture intended to flower a full tent of tomatoes, peppers, herbs, or cannabis.
LED fixtures have become the practical standard for indoor cultivation because they provide usable plant light with less heat and less power draw than older lighting technologies. That does not make every LED equal. Diode quality, fixture design, driver placement, coverage pattern, dimming range, and hanging height all affect how a light performs over living plants.
LED Grow Lights Comparison: Start With Your Grow Area
Before comparing spectra or features, measure the footprint you actually need to light. Include the usable canopy, not the full size of the room. A 2-by-2 tent, a shelf of houseplants, and a 4-by-4 flowering tent should not be approached with the same fixture simply because each can physically fit beneath it.
Manufacturers often list a vegetative coverage area and a smaller flowering coverage area. Treat the flowering figure as the more demanding test.
